Ray
Plouffe started
working at Family Bike as a junior mechanic in
1991, while attending high school, and continued
throughout college, and thereafter. Fixing things
always came second nature to Ray, however he didn’t
always own the bike shop. He graduated with a
degree in Biomedical Instrumentation. His first
‘real’ job in his profession had him
fixing dialysis machines. However, he always had
a passion for working with bicycles, so interim
he worked fixing wheelchairs, instead. When the
opportunity presented itself back in September
2002, Ray jumped at the chance to own the bike
shop he felt was his second home. Of course, he
had to decide if giving up a definite paycheck
and a boss was worth making his own hours, and
being his own boss. OF COURSE it would be worth
it!!! You can meet Ray any day of the week at
Family Bike. He, along with Zoë, and the
other employees hope to make your experience here,
a pleasant one.
Dawn,
a.k.a. “The Boss’ Wife,” has
been at Family Bike since her husband took over
in Sept of 2002. She is currently in grad school,
and if at the bike shop, is actively procrastinating
some assignment. She, as well as Zoë, looks
forward to helping you, even though they may not
be as experienced as Ray.
Zoë,
a.k.a. “The Shop Dog,” has been at Family
Bike as an employee since she was a wee pup back
in 2002. She is by far, the friendliest and most
obedient help someone could ask for. She’ll
greet you at your car door, and show you into ours.

Russell
Hill has been employed at Family Bike
for the past 4 years. He too started as a young
and ambitious BMX rider, making him the resident
BMX expert. Russell is graduating from high school
this June, and plans to attend Umass in the fall,
undetermined major. Hopefully, we will continue
to still see Russell, unless he’s too busy
as the English Patient!!!
Kyle
Mercure attends college, and
has been employed at Family Bike for the past 4 years.
He also is incredibly gifted on a bike, and just
as gifted in the shop! We are lucky to have his
services for the next few years, until he too retires
to college. Click on the pictures below for larger
images of Kyle on his bike (Note: Please disable
